The Big Sway - "Almost Home"

Boston's The Big Sway are one of the more interesting bands out their. Their latest single, "Almost Home," has that kind of post punk/noise rock sound you would associate with a band like Mission of Burma or The Jesus Lizard. (In fact, the song was mastered by Bob Weston of Mission of Burma and Shellac.) But, this isn't really just a noise punk sound. There are also some elements of more mainstream punk, kind of like a Celtic-less Dropkick Murphys. And then the song ends just shy of two and a half minutes as a fantastic noise punk rocker with some mainstream chops. But... it's nowhere near over. From there it morphs into this odd, dreamy psychedelic song. This is an interesting one that will have you wanting to hear what The Big Sway do next.

You can watch the video for "Almost Home" below. We Made This for You is due out this summer. For more on The Big Sway, check out the band's website.

Dori Freeman - "Almost Home"

As with previous singles from Dori Freeman's upcoming album, "Almost Home" just sounds slightly off. Of course, I mean that in the best possible way. "Almost Home" is a great country/Americana song, but it's definitely not like typical country although it does have all the elements. Freeman's voice is stunning, and has just the right country tinge to it so make it country, but it wavers just a bit too much to be country. And then there's the guitar. Sure, there's twang and some jangle to it, but it's an otherworldly jangle. Despite being sunny, "Almost Home" has some darkness and dinge to it as well. This is why you're going to need to listen to it.

You can listen to "Almost Home" below. Ten Thousand Roses is due out September 10 on Blue Hens Music. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here. For more on Dori Freeman, check out the artist's website.
