Jackson+Sellers - "Hush"

Image
Photo by Ashley Osborne Despite my expectations, I've adored the two previous singles from the duo Jackson+Sellers, aka Aubrie Sellers and Jade Jackson. Their previous singles have been a combination of country, pop, garage rock, and grunge. They've been what would normally be a little too shiny and pop for me, but something about them has been irresistible to me. The duo's latest, "Hush," strips away the harder rock edge and leaves a dark country/pop ballad. Putting the word pop anywhere near country is usually off putting for me, but "Hush" is a gorgeous song, and I don't think I'll ever be able to avoid Jackson+Sellers' vocal harmonies. Plus, there is just that little something the two have together that is just pure magic. You can listen to "Hush" below. Breaking Point is due out October 22 on Anti- Records. Jackson+Sellers - "Waste Your Time"

Photo by Ashley Osborne At certain points, I feel like the duo of Jackson+Sellers (Jade Jackson and Aubrie Sellers) might be too mainstream. And a song like "Waste Your Time" is really, really poppy. But, I think that might be the fact that Jackson+Sellars both have mainstream vocal chops. They could probably make it pretty far on one of those singing shows on the TV. But "Waste Your Time" is this great meld of country, pop, and grunge. Seriously, it's fantastic vocals and guitars that are filled with distorted fuzz and twang at the very same time. And it even ends with a killer distorted guitar solo at the end that would make J Mascis proud. Jade Jackson says of the new song: “Waste Your Time was my heart's way of ringing out the last few drops of a toxic relationship. When I started strumming the chords and scribbling down the lyrics I was in a place of weakness. After I put the pencil down and finished the song I felt strong again. It helped me move on.” ...

Jackson+Sellers - "The Devil is an Angel"

Image
Photo by Ashley Osborne Jackson+Sellers started out when Jade Jackson reached out to Aubrie Sellers about singing background vocals on a track. That must have gone well since the pair are releasing an album as a duo. The first single from the collaboration is "The Devil is an Angel." The song is an absolute garage rock rager mixed with classic country and modern pop. It's an odd combination that works well. It's dirty guitars, gorgeous harmonies, and just enough twang to demand your attention. It could be considered alt-country (maybe?) but Jackson and Sellers have too much sheen on their vocals. The duo have crafted an amazing song that we think you're going to become completely enamored with. You can watch the video for "The Devil is an Angel" below. Breaking Point is due out October 22 on Anti- Records. You can pre-order/pre-save a copy here . For more on Jackson+Sellers, check out their website .
