kei - "like ooo"

If you were at the 2022 Boston Music Awards, you're a fan of kei. The winner of Best New Artist blew the entire crowd away that night with one of the most energizing live performances I've ever seen. Her latest single, "like ooo," shows off why she's become a local sensation in the Boston music scene. It's a playful and energetic hip hop song that dabbles the tiniest of bits into R&B. As someone who prefers throwback hip hop more than the more popular and modern style, Boston seems to be producing artists that can live in both worlds. kei is an example of that, as "like ooo" sounds like a hip hop song in 2023 that acknowledges what came the forty years before. There are a lot of rappers around here that are due to break out nationally sooner than later, and kei is at the top of that list.

kei and BoriRock - "no handouts"

I wish I could find out more about this collaboration between Boston hip hop artist's kei and BoriRock, but I'm going to have to roll out with no information on this one. If you were at the Boston Music Awards, you know that the breakout star was kei. The winner of this year's Best New Artist, her performance was mindblowing, and everyone there literally watched her become a star on that stage. Her latest single is a collaboration with BoriRock. "no handouts" is a relatively chill song that still keeps kei's intensity intact. This is a perfect example of the up and coming Boston hip hop scene and how it sounds completely fresh and modern while still having what old school hip hop fans love. If this is your introduction to kei, you're very welcome. It's a great Bandwagon to be on.
