Perfectly Lethal - "Pissing in the Wind"

We loved the first two singles from Perfectly Lethal, comparing them to Superchunk and Cheap Trick. The Boston quartet are back with a new single, "Pissing in the Wind." The new single still has a huge, classic power pop song, but it's delving a bit more into the classic indie rock side of things. The song just starts with crunching guitars and goes into some killer harmonies and a terrifically catchy chorus. This one is reminding me more of bands like Guided By Voices and Superdrag. This one is going to appeal to fans of power pop and indie rock, especially if you have a bit of nostalgia for the mid 90's.

You can listen to "Pissing in the Wind" below. The song will be included on an upcoming EP. For more on Perfectly Lethal, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram. If you're in the Boston area, they're playing Faces Brewing Co. in Malden on Monday, May 22 with Dead Bars and Hell Beach. You can find more information on that show here.

Perfectly Lethal - "Gotta Get Away"

Back in August we brought you the new single from Boston's Perfectly Lethal. At the time I described "Decay" as "Superchunk and Cheap Trick teaming up." If you like the sound of that, you're going to love their latest. "Gotta Get Away" sounds a little more on the Superchunk side of things. It has that bouncy indie rock feel with a pre-pop-punk/pre-emo vibe to it. There is just enough of a 70's power pop/glam rock sound to it to keep the Cheap Trick comparisons going. Of course, the B-side, "Little Things," blows up those comparisons. This one is much more rock focused. It has a little bit of the heavier side of mid-90's power pop sound going for it, but filtered through Tom Petty.

You can listen to "Gotta Get Away" below. The single is currently available via Bandcamp. For more on Perfectly Lethal, check out the artist on Facebook and Instagram.

Perfectly Lethal - "Decay"

Boston is the home of some of the finest power pop out there these days, and our latest discovery is Perfectly Lethal. The band has recently released a new single, "Decay," that is a perfect mixture of power pop, garage rock, and pop punk. It's filled with jangly and fuzzy guitars, pop hooks, and just enough attitude to keep it fun. At some points the guitars have this huge 70's power pop sound, and at others they have a more 90's kind of fuzz layered on. Perfectly Lethal are making me think of Superchunk and Cheap Trick teaming up on a single, and if that doesn't excite you, I don't know what will.

You can listen to "Decay" below. The song is currently available through Bandcamp. For more on Perfectly Lethal, check out the artist on Facebook and Instagram.
