Snõõper - "Powerball"

Snõõper have been wowing us with their disjointed, high energy DIY punk, and their latest single continues that. "Powerball" clocks in at just over a minute, but it somehow feels like a full three and a half minute pop song. This is also the most melodic that Snõõper have sounded so far, but of course, that is relative. That is what keeps this Nashville band so interesting: They play loud and fast punk bordering on noise rock, but the songs end up still being poppy. "Powerball" is a fun song that is somehow the perfect length for what it is.

Singer Blair Tramel says of the band's new song:

‘Powerball’ was written after a scratch-off winning streak. It’s a funny thing to feel like you are going to win something so arbitrary - to feel like you are going to be the one in a billion winner. I decided to buy some scratch-offs and, to my surprise, I won $50 on a $2 scratch off. I kept buying scratch-offs from different gas stations around town and kept winning. It was a comical sort of high I hadn’t felt before and even when I started losing money I wanted to keep going.

You can watch the video for "Powerball" below. Super Snõõper is due out July 14 on Third Man Records, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Snõõper, check them out on Instagram.

Snõõper - "Fitness"

The latest from Nashville's Snõõper isn't going to be for everyone, and that's ok. "Fitness" is probably too fast and too noisy of a song. It's like noise rock meets hyper pop, and it's just a frantic mess of a song. But, that being said, it's a glorious mess of a song. It reminds me of a hyped up version of bands like Be Your Own Pet or Ex Models. For those of us that appreciate this kind of thing, "Fitness" is an absolute joy in the form of a ninety second song. It's fun and will make you want to move, even if it's most likely too fast to do anything resembling a dance to.

Vocalist Blair Tramel says of the band's new song:

“‘Fitness’ was written just for fun without much thought, which is exactly the way I think working out should be. This song is about competition, doing things for the validation of others, and how ridiculous that can be. Before our first show, I made a paper mache weight to use during this song. It was our very first prop and the only prop we used for a while. ‘Fitness’ is a special song to us because it is still one of our most fun songs to play live.”

Snõõper - "Pod"

Nashville's Snõõper are a DIY punk band that makes this impossible to resist hyper version of pop punk around. Their new single, "Pod," comes in at under two minutes. It's a fast and furious punk song that is filled with just as much sugary pop as it has an edge. It's chugging and hyper guitars mixed with drums that almost seem to fast. It's punk, but it's fun punk while still having some grit to it.

Vocalist Blair Tramel says of the new song:

“‘Pod’ was written over the pandemic, when people only felt comfortable being around other members of their ‘pod.’ It’s wild to think about that as a concept in hindsight. When we formed our pods, however, our anxieties began to multiply and everything felt so extreme. Our pods confirmed and echoed our worst fears. Everything felt dark and all anyone could do was blame someone else for why we all felt so bad.”
