The Brothers Comatose featuring AJ Lee Cover Neil Young

In the past we've brought you both The Brothers Comatose and AJ Lee & Blue Summit. This time it's The Brothers Comatose joining forces with AJ Lee to cover Neil Young's classic "Harvest Moon." Both bands have a similar modern and mainstream take on roots and Americana, and "Harvest Moon" is the perfect way to showcase that sound. AJ Lee takes the lead for vocal duties, and this is a virtually perfect cover/tribute to Young. It's a little more traditional folk and roots than Young's original, but that is hardly a bad thing here. Plus, covering Neil Young is fairly topical these days.

You can watch the video for The Brothers Comatose featuring AJ Lee's take on "Harvest Moon" below. The song is currently available as a download via Bandcamp. It's part of The Brothers Comatose's new weekly video series "Ear Snacks." For more on The Brothers Comatose, check out the artist's website. Upcoming tour dates are below the video.

The Brothers Comatose - "Gone Gone Gone"

The Brothers Comatose play a unique blend of traditional bluegrass and rock music. Sure, their latest single "Gone Gone Gone" has all the elements of traditional bluegrass. It's twangy, acoustic, and the vocals are pretty standard bluegrass. But then you realize that the guitar is following rock chords. And instead of bluegrass harmonies those are more along the line of gang vocals (albeit pleasant gang vocals). There may be dozens of modern bluegrass bands, but none of them rock quite like The Brothers Comatose while sounding this traditional.

You can watch the video for "Gone Gone Gone" below. When It All Falls Apart is due out in early 2022. For more on The Brothers Comatose, check out the band's website. Upcoming concert dates are below the video.

The Brothers Comatose - "Too Many Places"

The latest single from The Brothers Comatose combines traditional bluegrass with a more modern rock based sound. "Too Many Places" is a bluegrass song. It's planted firmly in the world of folk and Americana. But The Brothers Comatose play it like its a rock song. It has a distinct backbeat, and its being sung in a mid 90's mainstream alt-rock kind of way. Sure, there are many bands out there doing a modern take on bluegrass, but what makes "Too Many Places" stand out is that it's not a progressive version of bluegrass. Instead, it just feels like a song played by a band that loves traditional Americana and rock equally and just plays them both together because that's how they do it.

You can listen to "Too Many Places" below. The song is available as a single now via Swamp Jam Records, and The Brothers Comatose will have a new album out in early 2022. For more on The Brothers Comatose, check out the band's website.
