The Dents - "Want it Back"

Image
The Dents are a no nonsense rock band. Their latest single, "Want it Back," is garage rock infused punk filled with an absurd amount of melody. It's dripping with attitude and venom, but it's still catchy as it could possibly be. You're getting giant rock guitar solos, a killer chorus with two-part harmonies, and the most pogo-able song in ages. "Want it Back" isn't changing any genres or rewriting the rules of rock. That's not the point. The point is just to rock, so if you have a love of bands like AC/DC or The Donnas, The Dents might become your favorite Boston rockers. You can listen to "Want it Back" below. The Dents' self-titled EP will be out June 4 on Rum Bar Records. You can pre-order a copy via Bandcamp . For more on The Dents, check out the band's Facebook . The Dents by The Dents

The Dents - "Homeless"

Image
As you most likely have noticed, Boston has a great garage rock/power pop scene that we cover. A lot. If you're into that sort of thing, then you're going to love The Dents. The Dents have the heavier side of power pop covered. "Homeless" is a hard edged rocker that dips its toe into grunge territory. But, it's still oddly catchy and melodic. If anything, the crunchy guitars and all out fuzz doesn't quite fit the vocals. While Jen D'Angora and Michelle Paulhus have plenty of punk edge to their vocals, their harmonizing shouldn't fit with the driving force of the music. Except that it does. Perfectly. You can listen to "Homeless" below. The Dents' self-titled album will be out June 4 on Rum Bar Records. You can pre-order a copy over at Bandcamp . The Shang Hi Los - "Sway Little Player"

Image
Photo via Facebook "Sway Little Player" may be the debut single from The Shang Hi Los, but this band is comprised of Boston garage rock 'n' roll royalty. The band features  Jen D'Angora (Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents, The Dents, The Downbeat 5), Dan Kopko (Watts), Lee Harrington (The Neighborhoods), and Chuck Ferreira (Eddie Japan, Lonely Leesa & the Lost Cowboys). "Sway Little Player" is classic rock 'n' roll. It's as groovy as humanly possible and has the same earworm quality the best pop songs of the 60's have. But, as 60's vintage as this song is, it somehow still has the tiniest bit of a modern edge to it. It could be that Jen D'Angora keeps a little punk edge to her voice that would have been missing five decades ago, but The Shang Hi Los have given us a modern garage pop classic. You can watch the video for "Sway Little Player" below. The song is available as a single now via Rum Bar Records. For more...
