VAZUM - "Night Shade"

Detroit deathgaze duo VAZUM are back with a brand new single. "Night Shade" is a modern goth rock song about escaping an abusive relationship. It's obviously an incredibly dark song, but, as anything that can be truly called goth, it's quite dance friendly. It has that post punk backbeat to it, along with a modern Depeche Mode groove... just somehow darker. I think that's truly the great thing about a song like "Night Shade." As dark and disturbing as the song is, you're going to find yourself wanting to dance despite it.

You can listen to "Night Shade" below. The song is currently available as a single via Bandcamp. VAZUM has an album coming out in March with a national tour in April. To keep up with what VAZUM is up to, check out the band's Facebook and Instagram.

VAZUM - "Double Stellium"

Detroit deathgaze duo VAZUM have released a new single. "Double Stellium" is a goth post-punk track that is just oozing with distortion and feedback. It starts off with a hypnotic burst of fuzz that seems like it may go on forever before settling into the focus of the song. "Double Stellium" is a dark and swirling song that finds beauty in the darkness and noise. While it's mostly elements of post punk and shoegaze, you'll hear some hints of metal in this one, too. The song tends to be at its best while utilizing the double vocals of Zach Pliska and Emily Sturm into the hypnotic depths.

You can watch the video for "Double Stellium" below. VAZUM are planning for an album release in the spring along with a US tour. For more on VAZUM, check out the band's Facebook and Twitter.

VAZUM - "Angel"

Detroit deathgaze duo VAZUM are back with a new single, and if you've ever liked any version of goth or dark music, this one is made for you. "Angel" is a fast song that also combines elements of shoegaze and punk, but you're going to hear elements of all of your favorite goth and goth related bands here. There are hints of Depeche Mode, Ministry, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and everyone else here. The song is propelled by the music which just plows ahead straight at you like an out of control train, with vocals that are a few steps slower and give the track its moody feel. We've liked what we've heard from VAZUM in the past, but "Angel" is next level great.

You can listen to "Angel" below. The song is currently available as a single on Bandcamp. For more on VAZUM, check out the band's Facebook and Twitter. Upcoming tour dates are below the song.

VAZUM - "Gallows"

Detroit based duo VAZUM are a self described deathgaze band. Deathgaze combines deathrock with shoegaze, and you can hear a prime example of that sound on their latest single. "Gallows" has all the darkness and doom of deathrock but the droning lushness of shoegaze. It's a style that clashes with itself creating a gorgeous yet unsettling sound. Plus, VAZUM bring a giant, cinematic feel to "Gallows." Despite not being overtly loud or noisy, the song just feels huge. (Some noise comes later in the song, so don't you worry about that!) It's a truly unique sound that combines enough existing elements to still feel familiar.

You can watch the video for "Gallows" below. The song is currently available for download via Bandcamp. For more on VAZUM, check out the band's Facebook and Twitter.
