Cat Ridgeway - "What If?"

Orlando's Cat Ridgeway describes her music as "indie rock for overthinkers," which may be why we like it so much. Her latest single, "What If?," is a unique mixture of lo-fi indie rock, alt-pop, and folk. It includes banjo, trumpet, and bari sax to create a killer sound that is both groovy and contemplative. It reminds me of if Beck had tried to make Odelay and One Foot In the Grave into a single album. All of the elements of "What If?" should make the song fun, and while it is, there is also a sense of melancholy within. This is one of those songs that sounds totally fresh while also being familiar. We first discovered Cat Ridgeway back in October with her song "Sprinter," and based on these two singles, she's an artist we're thrilled to hear more from.
