Murder By Death - "Wandering"

Earlier this year came the news that Murder By Death were set to embark on their farewell tour, ending the band's twenty-five year run. This week, they announced their tenth and final album and released a single from it. "Wandering" is a folk rock ballad in the way that only Murder By Death could do one. It's filled and possibly even overflowing with sentiment and nostalgia, and is quite obviously from a farewell album. It's lush and beautiful and at times dissonant. The band is giving us all a goodbye in the best possible way for themselves, and fans are going to love this, even if they don't want to say goodbye.

Frontman Adam Turla says of the band's new single:

We're releasing ‘Wandering’ first because it's the song that is most directed to the fans and about my experience with this band,” he says. “It's a ballad, and not a typical single —  not even the single we plan to push for this record. But the heart of this band is our fans and I wanted to share this with you first.”

You can listen to "Wandering" below. Egg & Dart is due out June 13. For more on Murder By Death, check out the band's website. Upcoming tour dates are below the song and include a June 27 show at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. (I'll give them credit for putting on a huge, all encompassing farewell tour!)
