Orgōne - "Lies and Games"

California's Orgōne are described as "Afro-psych-soul," and that sound is prevalent in their latest single. "Lies and Games" has lead and backing vocals that are pure vintage soul. They even have a quality that makes them sound like they were recorded fifty or sixty years ago. But the music is hardly traditional soul. The song is filled with space age synths and various funk and psychedelic flourishes. the result is far more trippy than you normally associate with soul, but the vocals ground it in reality. It's like Marvin Gaye decided to work with Funkadelic, and I think we could all use that kind of sound in our lives.

Band co-founder Sergio Rios says of their upcoming album:

“The album really took form organically. It’s raw and dark with a hopeful thread throughout that’s highlighted by the incredible soul singers we work with. There's a looseness to most of the cuts, giving the album the feeling of a shadowy dream.”
