Honeypuppy is the musical project of ex-preschool teacher Josie Callahan. The Athens based band just released a new single, "Penny Press." It's a rambling kind of song that blurs the lines of Americana and indie rock without being alt-country or folk. Honeypuppy's sound is this dreamlike version of indie rock meets alt-pop that kind of swoons around you while listening. It reminds me of an odd mixture of Blondshell and Pavement, but the more country side of Pavement. "Penny Press" also has an interesting vibe in that it sounds like a grown up nursery rhyme. This is a fun debut single from a band we're looking to hear more from!
