Squirrel Flower - "Cleveland"

Photo by Jackson James Squirrel Flower has a highly anticipated album due out this Friday, and she has a new single out to keep us satiated for the next two days. "Cleveland" shows off Squirrel Flower's more indie rock side. It's filled with fuzzed out guitars, with the slightest hints of twang for her folk/Americana side. The song is a slowed down track filled with sounds that will remind you of your favorite 90's indie rockers without sounding like a throwback. It's taking the genre from its glory days into the current era, and "Cleveland" is a breathtakingly amazing song. When you hear people complain that they don't make guitar rock any more, play "Cleveland" for them. Momma - "Cross Your Heart"

Photo by Steph Rinzler Welcome to My Blue Sky  was a highlight of the first half of this year, and Momma recently announced a deluxe edition of the album. One of the new songs on this re-release is "Cross Your Heart," which could have been one of the best songs on the initial release. It's a dreamy alt-rock track reminiscent of a lot of our favorite mid-90's artists. It's like a modern alt-pop influenced version of Veruca Salt or that dog, with a ton of guitar fuzz and vocal harmonies. As with most songs from Momma, "Cross Your Heart" is completely mesmerizing, and has such a sunny feel that's perfect for our never ending New England summer.
