Peel Dream Magazine - "Live In the Gutter"
Photo by Vice Cooler The first thing you'll notice with the new single from Peel Dream Magazine is that it sounds a lot like Stereolab. That's not meant as a bad thing, we could all use some more music that reminds us of Stereolab in our lives. But "Live In the Gutter" also swerves off in some other sonic directions. Peel Dream Magazine is much more rock based. It does have a light and airy feel to the song, but the New York band does add a little more edge to their sound. Plus, the beat adds a layer of funk over the whole thing. While the Stereolab influence is apparent, it's always good to see a band pay homage to their influences into their own sound.
