You might know him from The Beatings and Eldridge Rodriguez, and he is set to release his debut solo album next month. His latest single, "Sons and Daughters," is going to be right up your alley if you're a fan of his other music. The song is a cinematic indie rock song. Keiber's vocals are the highlight of the song, with a strong feel of emotion and drama being conveyed throughout the song. Mid December starts to become a bit of a nightmare. The pressures of Christmas are fully on, family and friends start having near constant Christmas parties, and there are dozens of holiday activities you simply must do or you're not celebrating right. But sometimes there's a night of music you have to go to, and that was the case with the amazing triple bill of Hallelujah the Hills, Eldridge Rodriguez, and Aaron and the Lord. Aaron and the Lord is the collaboration of Aaron Perrino of The Sheila Divine and Steve Lord of Dirty Bangs. Their music tends to be dark and moody, leaning a little more into the world of New Wave or pop than their previous bands have. They've gotten even darker recently with singles like "The Darkness" and "Lilydale," which have reached into epic territory. Even though this was my fourth time seeing Aaron and the Lord, I'm always surprised at how much of a rock band they are live. Sure, it's still dark and moody, but live...

The Boston band just released "Without All Your Teeth You Can't Get Into Heaven," which is this interesting gothic New Wave meets country kind of ballad. That might sound like a sonic train wreck, but Cameron Keiber's musical project expertly pulls it off. The song starts off like a Cure song, but with some oddly twangy guitar. When Keiber's crooning vocals take over, the song shifts into the prom song from the coolest 80's movie that never existed. "Without All Your Teeth You Can't Get Into Heaven" is one of the most instantly compelling songs to come out this year, and it just gets more and more so the longer it goes on. "The Strange Things That Happen to People" has a huge sound that is nearly arena ready, but will still sound perfectly at home in dive bars. The song has this epic thrust to it that reminds me of U2, but also a much darker feeling that is more like Joy Division. While most arena rock tends to be uplifting (tens of thousands of people don't typically gather together to mope), Eldridge Rodriguez anchor that in a more downbeat song. Photo by Tim Bugbee Boston's Eldridge Rodriguez has released a new single that changes up the band's sound while still sounding like themselves. "A Feeling That Won't Go Away" is a slacker anthem. It has that 90's slacker vibe going for it, along with a chilled out yet intense vibe, but it's far more pop (albeit noise pop) than we ever could have admitted something sounded in the 90's. It's reminding me a lot of the slower songs of The Sheila Divine mixed with The Rolling Stones' ballads. "A Feeling That Goes Away" is a dark, brooding indie rock/pop song that still has a slightly uplifting feel to it. You can listen to "A Feeling That Won't Go Away" below. Photo by Patrick Ruth For their new single, Boston based band Eldridge Rodriguez have enlisted Thalia Zedek on backing vocals. Getting someone as legendary as Zedek to join you on a song is huge, but "Scars in the Vein" would still be a great indie rock song even without Boston indie rock royalty being involved. "Scars in the Vein" is an insanely catchy indie rocker with more than a few pop hooks thrown in. It's not quite tuneful enough to be considered pop, although it does lean that way. There's some noise here, but mostly it's a straight up rocker with singer Cameron Keibler's vocals merging perfectly with Zedek's. Both of their vocals stand out on their own, but when the two are harmonizing is when the song is truly magic. You can listen to "Scars in the Vein" below. Eldridge Rodriguez is the moniker of Cameron Kieber to cover the wide variety of music he records and releases. According to the "about" section on the artist's website, Eldridge Rodriguez makes "... music for people who like to dance in the dark, alone." That description fits their new single, "Have I Gone Too Far." The new single was written in May 2020 and captures the isolation, monotony, and depression basically everyone experienced after quarantining for two months. Kieber borrows Ian Curtis's trademark vocal delivery a bit, but is a bit more uplifting. As much of a downer as the subject material of "Have I Gone Too Far" may be, it's a surprisingly uplifting song while still maintaining a dour vibe.
