"Garfield Hated Mondays But Didn't Have a Job" is a lot of fun, and has the sound (and title) that I associate mostly with Michael Christmas. It has a very golden age of hip hop sound, and comes across as both ultra mainstream and underground hip hop. To me, it sounds like a collaboration between De La Soul and Will Smith, but much hipper than that sounds. It has that perfect mixture of laid back and dance friendly, and I simply cannot stress how much fun this song is. Get in your car and crank this one up, and you'll understand just how perfect "Garfield Hated Mondays But Didn't Have a Job" is. We've been fans of Boston rapper Michael Christmas for a while, and it was just announced that Christmas has a collaborative EP coming out with Chris Crack and Girl Talk. This is a dream trio with Christmas and Crack's unique flows over Girl Talk's unique production. The first single from the EP, "Vending Machine Charcuterie Board," is a dream collaboration for any fans of underground or classic hip hop. It's a fun track that's both laid back and dance friendly. Based on this one single, the upcoming EP is going to be blowing a lot of minds once it is released. You can watch the video for "Vending Machine Charcuterie Board" below. The upcoming collaborative album between Girl Talk, Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T., and Smoke DZA started 2017 when Gregg Gillis (aka Girl Talk) started working with the other three artists separately. He started having the other artists collaborate on each other's songs and came up with the idea of all four making an album together. They all got together in Los Angeles and Full Court Press  is the result of those sessions. "Put You On" is the first single from the upcoming album. It's a laid back party song that shows off Girl Talk's cut and paste style production (although a bit toned down from his mixtapes) and gives each MC a chance to shine over some 70's soul. If you're familiar with Girl Talk, you're going to love this. If you're just a fan of great hip hop, you're also going to love this. You can watch the video for "Put You On" below. Photo via Facebook The latest single from the United Kingdom's Argonaut is a bizarre little minimalist indie dance song. The focus of "Girl Talk" are the vocals, which is a rarity in the indie rock world. Particularly the way they have gang vocals swirling around background vocals. The instrumentation is particularly minimalist to the point that you almost stop even noticing it by the end of the song. It's almost like an electronic version of a Beat Happening song. Somehow this works and makes for one of the more fun songs I've heard in a while. You can watch the video for "Girl Talk" below.
