Falsely Accused - "A Drink Before the War"

If you were kicking around the Boston music scene in the 90's, you're going to find a lot to love about the latest from Falsely Accused. "A Drink Before the War" sounds like that period in the mid 90's where grunge was starting to fade out but the music was still heavy. This is alt-rock inspired by grunge but starting to move on from the trappings of the genre. It's like a less metal version of bands like Helmet and Quicksand, and the heavier side of a band like Hum. "A Drink Before the War" is about as solid of a rock song as you're going to get, and yes... it would make a great drinking song.

Vocalist/bassist Matt Tavano says of the band's latest single:

“I think about ‘A Drink Before the War’ as a love song. I wrote the words for my wife. It’s about finding the person you’re going to spend your life with and then fighting life’s battles together. Sometimes I’ve found that before we’ve had to do a hard thing together, it’s good to take a moment, gather our collective strength, and then get after it. A quiet moment before the fight. I think every couple has had those moments.”

You can listen to "A Drink Before the War" below. For more on Falsely Accused, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram. They play tonight at Thirsty First in Lowell with Answerman and Robotic Hawks, and October 4 at The Shaskeen in Manchester, NH.
