France's Heckel & Jeckel are a duo that makes loud music. Like, really loud. They get compared to the Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana. Their latest three song EP, Eta Besteak has that long, drawn out sludgy feel of classic Melvins and the loud/quiet/loud thing that Nirvana perfected. Heckel & Jeckel are a lot more traditional metal, particularly in the growling and screaming vocals. A song like "USTEAK" slams between loud and quiet without speeding up at all. It's basically all done in the vocals. "SALTO" is an intense and uncomfortable three minute listen. "ASTO PUTZA" closes everything out in a mainstream metal goes batshit experimental way.
You can listen to "USTEAK" below. Eta Besteak is out now for the "name your price" option at Pogo Records' Bandcamp. If you do choose the zero dollar option, be sure to at the very least give Heckel & Jeckel a follow on Facebook.
