Frenchy and the Punk, the musical project of vocalist/percussionist Samantha Stephenson and guitarist Scott Helland (ex-Deep Wound) are back with a new single. "Gear Geist" is a mostly instrumental track with just Stephenson vocalizing harmonies sporadically, but it fits right into their punk goes cabaret sound. This is an intensely moody track that still finds beauty and even fun in the darkness. The press release for the track compares it to Siouxsie and the Banshees, Florence and the Machine, and The Dresden Dolls, and you won't hear any arguments from us on any of those. "Gear Geist" is a great and creative song that is much more compelling than (mostly) instrumental tracks normally get.
