Tetchy - "Mommy"

Brooklyn's Tetchy are one of my personal favorite musical discoveries of 2024, so I'm thrilled that they have a new single out. "Mommy" was a stand out song at their show at Ralph's last month, and the recorded version is somehow even more intense. Tetchy songs tend to either be very, very quiet or very, very loud, and "Mommy" is far on the loud side of the spectrum. Clocking in at ninety-two seconds, it's a fast and furious screamy punk song. Singer Maggie Denning sounds amazing throughout the song, whether she's crooning more softly or in a hardcore shout. This one falls somewhere in the worlds between punk, hardcore, metal, and art rock. And we adore it.

In a Facebook post, Tetchy say of their new single:

"she is a sapphic fantasy rager..
a queer punk bop who wants to be one for the ages but who got dreamt up in like, 10 minutes flat.
she is funny and she is raw and she is free

and i love her for that."

You can listen to "Mommy" below. For more on Tetchy, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram.
