Sycco is Australian First Nations singer, songwriter, and producer Sasha McLeod. Her latest single, "Monkey Madness," combines UK style garage with synth pop for a fresh take on the genre. The song is quite poppy, but has just enough of the garage edge to it to keep things interesting. The song just sounds like a party, albeit a smaller one with a few friends instead of an all out rager. Even if you typically consider yourself to be too cool for pop music (i.e.: me), you owe it to yourself to try out "Monkey Madness." Sycco has crafted a hyper pop jam that is sure to endear itself to even the snobbiest indie rockers.
Sycco says of her latest single:
“I wrote ‘Monkey Madness’ after having a few drinks with my friends Yari (my housemate) and Paddy (my drummer), and we decided to go to my studio that I had set up in my garage. We made it just for fun and were sampling our voices to sound like synths, which are still in there. When Jeremy [Chrome Sparks] and I were working on the album, I showed him ‘Monkey Madness’ and he instantly said we had to work on it. It didn’t change too much from the original demo. I’m so keen to play this live, I want people to open the pit!”
