Shehehe - "Wanna Be You"

Image
Most likely I would be bringing you the latest single from Athens, GA's Shehehe no matter what, but this quote from the band about their latest single certainly sealed the deal for me:  “'Wanna Be You' is a work of fiction about two characters from two great rock and roll songs, 'Sheena Is A Punk Rocker' by Ramones and 'Allison Is Starting To Happen' by The Lemonheads. If they met and became friends we think it would go a little somethin' like this…”  Sonically, "Wanna Be You" sounds a bit more like the Ramones meets TAANG! era Lemonheads than "Allison's Starting to Happen," but it does have the catchy side of It's a Shame About Ray. It's just Atlantic Records era Lemonheads with the noise from Hate Your Friends , and I'm obviously going to love that sound. You can watch the video for "Wanna Be You" below. Namedroppers is due out August 23 on SAY-10 Records. For more on Shehehe, check out the band's websi...

Shehehe - "Elton John"

The latest from Athens, GA's Shehehe is a joyous, exuberant punk meets indie rock song, despite the fact that its predominant lyrics are "My heroes are dying." "Elton John" is a two minute burst of a song about how hearing music from your heroes makes you feel young. It's a fun and noisy song that makes me think of the Ramones (speaking of heroes that have passed...) "Elton John" certainly isn't the new Dylan, but sometimes you just need a fun rock song without any hidden messages or interpretation of lyrics.  You can watch the video for "Elton John" below. Namedroppers is due out August 23 on SAY-10 Records. For more on Shehehe, check out the band's website .

Shehehe - "Get On My Lawn"

If you're of a certain age, you're going to give every band out of Athens, GA a listen. Our latest discovery from Athens is Shehehe, who just released a new single, "Get On My Lawn." The song is this irresistible mixture of DIY indie punk and power pop. It has all of the aggression and creativity of indie punk but with all of the earworm inducing catchiness of power pop. It kind of sounds like a mixture of Fuzzy and Wussy with its interesting blend of both dissonance and harmony. We've called many songs the Song of the Summer this month, so let's add "Get On My Lawn" to that list! You can watch the video for "Get On My Lawn" below. Namedroppers is due out August 23 on SAY-10 Records. For more on Shehehe, check out the artist's website .
