Adwaith - "Wedi Blino"

Welsh post punk trio Adwaith are back with a new song that defies the typical post punk label. "Wedi Blino" is more along the pop side of post punk, if such a side exists. This is hardly a pop song, though. "Wedi Blino" is more of a trippy and dreamy track that blends traditional post punk with shoegaze and a little bit of an indie pop filter. This is the kind of song that dances on the line of pop and post punk that you didn't even know existed.

Adwaith says of their new song:

"We wanted to create a big indie pop song that has a melancholy feel to it. It's about being worried that life is going too fast or the worries of a relationship, the overwhelming feeling that you're not good enough and that you are the reason things aren't working out."

Adwaith - "Y Diweddaraf"

Hailing from Carmarthen in South West Wales, Adwaith have this unique sound to their blend of post punk. "Y Diweddaraf" is dark. It's that dark and moody version of post punk you associate with Joy Division. But the weird thing is that it's also upbeat and poppy, while being filled with fuzzy indie rock guitars. And it's sung in their native Welsh. This should be a complete trainwreck of a song, but Adwaith somehow merges it all together seamlessly into a dark, moody, upbeat post punk indie rock pop song. You're going to need to listen to the song to get it.

You can listen to "Y Diweddaraf" below. Adwaith's debut album, Melyn, is due out October 12 on Libertino Records. For more on Adwaith, check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
