"King of Wands" is that newfangled style of indie rock that is more pop than rock, but still has enough noise and edge to keep it from being too pop. The Toronto based artist has crafted a fun and catchy song with "King of Wands" that is just begging to become a huge bona fide international hit. As indie snobs, we usually hate when our beloved bands blow up, but if Housewife does, we'll be ok with it. There is no way a song this good doesn't deserve to be huge. Their latest single, "Fuck Around Phase," is surprising based on how indie rock it is while being insanely pop. The new song is layered in indie rock fuzz and feedback, but it's the kind of song that could easily be a huge pop hit with a different musical backing. Fry's vocals are pure indie or alt-pop, but "Fuck Around Phase" is also a giant rock song. This one is a really fun track that isn't meant to be taken too seriously, which is another reason it leans a little bit more into pop than indie rock. So let down that music snobbery a little bit and let yourself enjoy this one fully.
