If It's Too Loud...

The Brooklyn duo's latest single, "Best One," has all of the coolness of art rock and the... well... art, but it's surprisingly accessible as far as the genre goes. It's a laid back and fun track that feels like an auditory cut and paste at times while still sounding cohesive. This is the kind of art rock that even the most mainstream can appreciate since it's undeniably groovy. It sounds like an interesting mash up of Luscious Jackson, Cibo Matto, and Stereolab. Music this great and unique isn't normally as fun as "Best One," but MAN LEE pull it off exceptionally well. Photo by Tayler Smith Brooklyn's MAN LEE have a new single out that refuses to adhere to any specific genre or song structure rules, which is why you're going to love it. The only word I can use to describe "Chicken" is "rock." Aside from that, the song cycles through many of rock's subgenres effortlessly and with the listener barely noticing. It starts off as a sort of theatrical indie rock, and then slowly and quickly adjusts to add in some elements of classic rock, 90's alt-rock, metal, twee, blues, and most likely more throughout its three-plus minute run. I would say the song is weird and quirky, but what's the most weird is how the song never feels weird or gimmicky even as it moves through so many sounds and elements. "Chicken" is just a great artsy rock song that actually rocks.
