Grey DeLisle - "Didn't We Try"

Photo by Julia Dillon Los Angeles based musician Grey DeLisle doesn't sound like a California artist. After hearing her latest single, "Didn't We Try," I assumed she was from Nashville or anywhere besides Los Angeles. The song fits perfectly into the alt-country genre, with plenty of twang throughout. What might be the most interesting sound is how much the guitar doesn't really fit a country song. There's something oddly jangly about the guitar, even when it still sounds country-esque. And then the indie/garage rock fuzz comes in and elevates "Didn't We Try" even more. Plus, the song comes in at just under two minutes, which is a very punk length. This one is well worth multiple listens and will grow on you with each one.
