Sharp Pins - "(I Wanna) Be Your Girl"

Sharp Pins is the lo-fi pop project of Kai Slater. I know what sound we all associate lo-fi with, and while his latest single is decidedly lo-fi, it's not your typical lo-fi track.
"(I Wanna) Be Your Girl" is heavily influenced by 1960's rock and pop. It's the kind of song that you normally hear with very lush production, and you may even start wondering what it would sound like in the hands of George Martin or with a Wall of Sound. And I guarantee "(I Wanna) Be Your Girl" would sound amazing if it was heavily produced. But part of the charm of Sharp Pins is how raw and unpolished it is. The grit in the song ends up making it sound more true. This is music that simply needed to be made.

You can listen to "(I Wanna) Be Your Girl" below. Balloon Balloon Balloon is due out November 21 on K Records and Perennial Death, and is available for pre-order through Bandcamp. For more on Sharp Pins, check out the artist on Instagram.
