Jason Tyler Burton - "Fires of '88"

Image
Photo by Erica Chambers Just in case we weren't already excited about the release of the newest album from Jason Tyler Burton next month, the latest single has us amped for summer to be over so we can get a hold of Kentuckian. "Fires of '88" is a great ramblin' country/Americana song. The song was inspired by Burton eavesdropping on a conversation at the Silver Dollar Bar in Cody, Wyoming involving a free spirit bartender who was living out of her car. "Fires of '88" is a smoother storytelling Bob Dylan song, and I mean that in the best possible way. This is a much more upbeat song than the previous ones we've heard from Burton, which says a lot si nce it gets its title from wildfires in Yellowstone National Park. You can listen to "Fires of '88" below.  Kentuckian , the new album from Jason Tyler Burton, will be out September 6. For more on Jason Tyler Burton, check out his website . Jason Tyler Burton - "Date Night at the Dairy Queen"

Photo by Erica Chambers The more we hear from Jason Tyler Burton's upcoming album the more excited we're getting. The latest single, "Date Night at the Dairy Queen," is virtually perfect. It's on the mainstream side of alt-country, or maybe on the alt side of mainstream country. "Date Night at the Dairy Queen" is a slightly rambling Americana/folk/country song with stripped down instruments and lyrics that just nail you in the gut. With lyrics like "We grow our own veggies, make our own amphetamine, but our number one cash crop is crushed hopes and dreams" it all comes across like a combination of Jason Isbell and Bob Dylan, which is a great place to be. Jason Tyler Burton - "High Road to Harlan"

Image
Photo by Erica Chambers "High Road to Harlan," the new single from Wyoming's Jason Tyler Burton, is pure classic Americana. It's a country/folk song that tells a story from the perspective of an 85 year old man raised in a Kentucky coal mining community about all the changes he's seen in his life. It's a truly perfect song, full of loneliness and heartache. "High Road to Harlan" isn't a genre changing song. It's in the vein of an artist like Jason Isbell (particularly his work with Drive-By Truckers) by just nailing the country/folk genre immaculately. Keep an eye on Burton. This is just the start for him. You can listen to "High Road to Harlan" below. Kentuckian , the new album from Jason Tyler Burton, will be out September 6.
