Queer Kaurna land/Adelaide, Australia post-punk band have a new single out, and buckle up for this one. "want someone" is a powerhouse of a song that slams into you with a wall of noise that lasts throughout almost the entire song. As soon as the opening guitar riff kicks in, you'll know if this song is for you. There is a darkness throughout, and the song straight up rocks. It's quite heavy for the genre, but there's something oddly accessible about it. Not to say that "want someone" is ready for a mainstream Sabrina Carpenter listening crowd, but some people might end up being surprised by how much they like this one. It's disjointed and discordant, with something that will pull you in, whether you want it to or not.
You can listen to "want someone" below. happy birthday is due out September 12 on Anti-Dismal and Short Corner Records, and is available for pre-order here. For more on The Empty Threats, check out the band on Instagram and Facebook.
