Artist : Snow Patrol Album : The Forest is the Path Quick Thoughts : There was a time where Snow Patrol was one of my favorite bands. Their post- Eyes Open work hasn't grabbed me quite the way their early stuff did even though they've legitimately become one of the biggest bands in the world over that time. The Forest is not a return to form by any means, but it is a collection of compelling songs that demand attention and is worth the time this week on a whole. I'm glad they're as huge as they are, 25 years later, and glad there's still good stuff coming out as well. Songs of Note : "The Beginning," "Everything's Here and Nothing's Lost," "Hold Me In the Fire," "Never Really Tire" Artist : Nada Surf Album : Moon Mirror Quick Thoughts : Nada Surf continues to be one of the indie-rock standardbearers with Moon Mirror , an album that remains as high-quality as basically every album they've put out since ...

Artist : Gold Child Album : Far From You Quick Thoughts : I'm not sure how I initially tripped up on Gold Child, but Far From You is a wonderful slice of country music that repeatedly surprised me. This collection of songs is a step forward from her 2019 debut effort, and really establishes her as a musical force to be reckoned with. Don't miss out on this one in what's a busy week, especially if you like the more rootsy efforts. Songs of Note : "Like You Used To," "Modern Life" Artist : Son Lux Album : Tomorrows III Quick Thoughts : I've come to enjoy a lot of esoteric, almost experimental music as of late. Son Lux filled that voice for me this week with the latest Tomorrows effort, which is gorgeous and challenging and intriguing all at once. Won't work for everyone, but if this is up your alley, you'll find a lot to love here. Songs of Note : "Unbind," "Plans We Make" Artist : Freedom Fry Album : L'In...

A solid week. Album of the Week : Artist : The Secret Sisters Album : You Don't Own Me Anymore Quick Description : Long-awaited third album from the folkies. Why You Should Listen : This is a gorgeous, amazing album. Overall Thoughts : I won’t lie – the second Secret Sisters album didn’t grab me the way the first one did. This new album sounded promising given the early music that was released, and the whole album is a nice, familiar relief. I loved every aspect of this, which is why it’s my album of the week – it’s taken a few albums, but they’ve really perfected their sound. The harmonies are spot on, the music absolutely gorgeous. There is nothing negative I can say about this, and it’s an album that needs to be on your list for listening this week. Recommendation : A must-listen, easily the best of the week. Artist : Katy Perry Album : Witness Quick Description : Pop starlet's latest. Why You Should Listen : It's not what you think. Overall Thoughts ...
