Joelton Mayfield - "The Shore"

We thought we had Joelton Mayfield pegged as an alt-country artist (and a damn fine one, too), and then he goes and defies our expectations with his latest single. "The Shore" opens up with what certainly sounds like a drum machine, and then meanders through multiple styles. It's laid back, but oddly intense, as it plays around with indie folk, alt-pop, and indie rock throughout it's five plus minute run. As laid back as "The Shore" is, it's absolutely epic. It's reminding me of an artist like Bruce Springsteen or The Killers, but a more grounded version. Mayfield may not be quite at the stadium headliner lever yet, but "The Shore" is showing that he's ready if any stadiums will have him.

You can watch the video for "The Shore" below. Crowd Pleaser is due out October 24 on Bloodshot Records, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Joelton Mayfield, check out the artist's website. Upcoming tour dates are below the video.
