Cloned Apparition - "Holly Green"

Seeing as I was a teenager in the 90's, I get pretty protective over the term "grunge." Looking back, grunge was an all encompassing term to describe fuzzy and aggressive alt-rock in the early 90's, but it seems like it's being used to describe any band that was influenced by the 90's lately. That being said, the latest from Cloned Apparition are actually grunge. "Holly Green" is filled with a giant and crunchy guitar tone that will remind you of your favorite Seattle bands. There is also the swirl of shoegaze and an edge reminiscent of alternative metal. (I made a big deal about "Holly Green" being actual grunge and here I am about to compare it to two non-metal bands...) This one sounds like a melding of Hum and Helmet. Cloned Apparition have released a kick ass rock song that we think you're going to love.

Vocalist Alice Hirsch says of the band's new single:

“Holly Green is a song about my late stepmother, named Holly, who passed away in 2018 from cancer. It's a song about how grieving never heals, it simply hurts less and how things on a personal and global outlook seemed to have gotten worse since her passing hence lines like ‘the grass is greener on the other side’ and ‘heaven's only a mile away.

"Holly Green is a shade of green that is pretty similar to that of grass or overall greenery. It's a calming shade of green, not too loud and not too drab. My stepmother was really the source of calm in my life during tumultuous times, and help me through a lot so the connection was made there and that's why I chose that title.”

You can listen to "Holly Green" below. Spring Powered is due out January 24 on Static Era Records, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Cloned Apparition, check out the band on Instagram and Twitter.
