Sometimes you can guess what a band sounds like based on their name alone. Denver's Alien Gothic sound exactly like their name. Their newest single, "Shine the Lights," is a deep goth electronica track that plows over you with a wall of noise. It's oddly beautiful, but in a brutal, otherworldly way. It's filled with electronic fuzz that lulls you into a sense of comfort before kicking in and melting your senses. It's eerie and repelling, but also compelling and will draw you in.
Ryan Policky says of the duo's new single:
"It's a symphony of alien sounds and favorite mellotron moments. It soars like a massive whale, while being pulled down into tight rhythms and mechanical goth patterns. A complete experiment that formed a lot of our overall sound... cosmic goth as we like to call it."
You can listen to "Shine the Lights" below. High and Dry is due out August 18 and can be pre-ordered through Bandcamp. For more on Alien Gothic, check out the band on Facebook and Twitter.
