As we're dealing with a cold spell here in the Northeast, it's nice to try to convince ourselves that winter will eventually end and summer will come again. Seeing as David Picco is from Newfoundland, I'm going to assume that desire is even stronger for him. His new single, "Waitin' for the Summetime," is the perfect song for that. Unlike most songs with "summer" in the title, Picco's has the melancholy feel that we all have right about now. It's a folk-ish type of song that, despite the sense of melancholy, does have some optimism in it. Of course, "Waitin' for the Summertime" isn't exactly about the seasons. Picco explains the meaning of the song: “I guess you could say that this about is about coming to terms with the fact that life never turns out as planned. I would describe it as contemplative, but musically I was going after something more dream-like and ethereal.”
