Boston is a haven for power pop bands, and if Minky Starshine is any indication, that extends down to Rhode Island. His latest single, "Our Father," is a glammed up version of the genre. It exists somewhere in the world between giant 70's power pop and the more indie version from the 90's. As big and as glam as "Our Father" is, there is also a certain amount of DIY charm within the song. It sounds to me like a blend of T Rex and Matthew Sweet. The song is brimming with killer harmonies and slick guitars, and what else do you want from your power pop?
