Chameleon Lime Whoopiepie is a Japanese trio led by Chi- and is comprised of her bandmates Whoopies No. 1 and Whoopies No. 2. Their new single, "Mushroom Beats," is this bizarro explosion of pop, indie rock, electronic music, and possibly even some 1940's style jazz. The song is as odd as you would expect given the title and Chameleon Lime Whoopiepie's band name, but it's also strangely not all that odd. If you're familiar at all with mash-ups, "Mushroom Beats" isn't going to be that far out of left field. It has the cut and paste feel of a mash-up, but with instruments and not relying exclusively on samples. But, like mash-ups, this song is going to be virtually impossible to resist moving to, and it's basically a three minute party.
