Peach Kelli Pop Covers Ace of Base

Even though Jeff is the official blog Ace of Base fan, I'm going to take this one. Peach Kelli Pop has become a favorite around here due to Allie Hanlon's fantastic mixture of bubblegum pop and garage rock. It's almost like a hyper version of sugary music like The Archies. Their upcoming EP is going to consist of covers, and the first song is a cover of Ace of Base's "The Sign." (Shockingly The Sign was released in 1993 even though I would have put it around 1997 or so.) Peach Kelli Pop's version speeds up the original and makes it almost pop punk but leaning quite heavily into the pop side... but in a great way. If a band like Peach Kelli Pop is going to cover "Ace of Base," it better be fun, and this delivers.

You can listen to Peach Kelli Pop's cover of "The Sign" below. Hardcovers is due out April 15 and can be pre-ordered on Bandcamp. For more on Peach Kelli Pop, check out the artist's website.
