Quest for Tuna - "She Can't Surf But She Sure Can Bowl"

Red on Red Records recently unearthed a Boston surf rock classic from 1989. Boston and surf rock don't sound like they'd exactly work, but this one from Quest for Tuna somehow does. Maybe it's the fact that it's called "She Can't Surf But She Sure Can Bowl" since New England is a bizarre haven for bowling, particularly around 1989, which is when my dad and I would battle over control of the TV. He'd insist on local candlepin bowling, I'd want to watch wrestling, but I digress... Quest for Tuna sound more like vintage Boston punk with some surf guitar. Jay Allen's vocals are wonderfully rough. These guys are definitely an ancestor of Dropkick Murphys and other 90's Boston punks.

You can listen to "She Can't Surf But She Sure Can Bowl" below. The song is currently available as a single via Red on Red Records' Bandcamp
