We're both old AF, so we've been loving the recent wave of 90's inspired bands out there. Many may not wear their 90's influences on their sleeves quite like Sweethearts do. According to a press release, their influences include Pavement, Weezer, Teenage Fanclub, and Pixies. Listening to their latest single, Sweethearts are the rare band that actually sounds like their influences. "If I Could I Would" sounds like that early to mid-90's wave of major label indie rock signings, just as everything started to move from grunge to what was then called post grunge, but we now would call power pop. "If I Could I Would" sounds like my life just as I graduated high school, so this is hitting all kinds of nostalgia buttons for me.
