Montener The Menace featuring Wordsworth, Rah Digga, Masta Ace, & Fatlip - "High Noon"

Image
Hailing from South London, Montener The Menace has just released the most classic old school hip hop single in years. First, the single is called "High Noon" and it has a slight old west vibe to it. A rap song with a western theme is something you'd hear in the late 80's/early 90's, but I can't think of another song since that used that theme. Second, he brought in four classic American rappers for the song. It features verses from Masta Ace, Rah Digga (Flipmode Squad), Fatlip (The Pharcyde), and Wordsworth. Just having those four team up is enough to get us to listen. Luckily, "High Noon" is a killer old school hip hop song. If you're a fan of pre-1995 hip hop, this song is going to be impossible not to enjoy. You can watch the video for "High Noon" below. The song will be available as a 7" single via Certain Sound Records. You can pre-order a copy on the label's Bandcamp . For more on Montener The Menace, check out the artist...

Ras Kass featuring Masta Ace - "CULTURE.VULTURE."

Photo via Facebook If you're like me and miss old school hip hop, you're going to want to check out the latest from Ras Kass. First of all, it features legendary rapper Masta Ace. When you include Masta Ace on a song, you get immediate old school cred. And then there's the song itself. "CULTURE.VULTURE." is pure old school. The song sounds modern while keeping a classic vibe. Sure, there is still the R&B style chorus, but it's a more of an early 90's R&B chorus so it's not overdone at all.  Rass Kass says of "CULTURE.VULTUR E.":  "[Producer Hi-Tek] came with the straight primal drums!  Ace's flow is liquid and Sapp hook smoothes it out on some Old School, Cold Crush harmony routine vibe. We do this shit for the Culture!" You can watch the video for "CULTURE.VULTURE." below. I'm Not Clearing Shxt , the upcoming album from Ras Kass, will be out November 6. You can pre-order a copy here . For more on Ras Kass,...

MC Paul Barman featuring Masta Ace - "((((((antennas))))))"

Image
Photo by Sasha Lytvyn May is shaping up to be an amazing month for new music, and part of that is the long awaited new album (by me, at least) from MC Paul Barman. "((((((antennas))))))," the latest single, keeps up Barman's slow move from novelty songs like "Cock Mobster" to more serious songs. That's not to say there's no humor in the new material. "((((((antennas))))))" includes the line " Don’t hyperfocus on your diaper crocus. Just change your drawers and wipe your tochus," but it's a more mature humor. Plus, he is joined by hip hop legend Masta Ace for the song, which automatically gives it an insane amount of cred. The two styles of rappers gives the song this chill but still intense feeling. You can listen to "((((((antennas))))))" below. (((echo chamber))) , the upcoming album from MC Paul Barman, will be out May 18 on Mello Music Group. You can pre-order the album here .
