I'm always a little hesitant with posthumous releases, especially when it's fourteen years after an artist has passed. However, Gang Starr's 2019 album, One of the Best Yet , released nine years after Guru's 2010 death, was a solid release that fit right in with the best of the Boston hip hop group's releases. To mark the fifth anniversary of that release, DJ Premier has released a new single. "Finishem" is just pure, classic hip hop. Guru was one of the most legendary MCs of his generation, and a song like "Finishem" helps bring Gang Starr back to the forefront of all of our minds.
