Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs featuring El-P - "Glib Tongued"

Image
Photo by David Hall Newcastle's Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs are back with a new single and an unexpected but fantastic collaboration. "Glib Tongued" is a giant, riff heavy track that features a guest verse from El-P of Run the Jewels and Company Flow. It's a mid-tempo track that grinds it's way through four minutes of sludge. It's reminding me of Clutch meets Black Sabbath, but in a way that a rap verse makes perfect sense. It starts off with a whining feedback guitar and a killer bass line, and keeps going from there. We don't bring you a ton of heavy stuff here at If It's Too Loud..., but a song as great as "Glib Tongued" is irresistible.  Bassist John-Michael Hedley says of the band's latest single: " Glib Tongued was an idea I’d been sitting on for a few years. It felt like the right time to inject it into 'Death Hilarious'. Though after bringing it to the table it morphed into something bigger and better than I co...

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - "Detroit"

Image
Photo by Ellen Dixon Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs have released their first single since 2023's Land of Sleeper , and strap yourself in for this one. "Detroit" is a giant song. It has one foot in the land of alt-rock and the other in the world of metal. It's a big, sludgy, noisy, loud, abrasive song, and we're loving it. It sounds like a melding of The Jesus Lizard and The Melvins, with guitars that sound like you're being pounded in the head, and vocals that slap you across the face. "Detroit" is an absolute auditory powerhouse that demands and deserves your full attention. "Band bellower" Matt Baty says of the new song: "Detroit reflects on the worst manifestations of male jealousy and resentment, and the ways in which a lack of accountability can lead to deflecting responsibility in exchange for blaming external forces like fate or God for perceived injustice." You can watch the video for "Detroit" below. The si...

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - "Ultimate Hammer"

Image
Photo by Ania Shrimpton Newcastle's Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs' latest single, "Ultimate Hammer," is just pure metal-adjacent, no nonsense hard rock. It's the kind of song that could appeal to everyone who loves heavy music. It's more metal than punk, but it's the kind of metal that punks are going to love. So, of course, it's giving me massive Motorhead flashbacks. The song is filled with growling vocals and showy (but not too showy) metal guitar licks. "Ultimate Hammer" is the kind of song we need to cover a lot more here. Guitarist Adam Ian Sykes says of the new song: “'Ultimate Hammer' is the by-product of being trapped in the house and listening to too much ZZ Top, if there is such a thing. It was written to be unapologetic, a selfish endeavour with the only consideration being how fun it would be to play live.” You can watch the video for "Ultimate Hammer" below. Land of Sleeper is due out February 17 on Rocket...

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - "Mr Medicine"

Image
Photo by Ania Shrimpton Hailing from Newcastle, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs have released a new single, "Mr Medicine." This one is a little heavier than we typically cover, but we obviously can't resist the band name, and "Mr Medicine" turns out to be a killer hard rocker. This is definitely more hard rock than metal, but it's at the very least metal adjacent. It has that dark sound of early metal that you would get with Black Sabbath, and the groove of a band like Queens of the Stone Age. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs are the kind of hard rock that metal die hards and casual fans are both going to love. Vocalist Matt Baty says of the new song: “Music is a powerful medicine and it should be consumed daily for mental wellbeing. Mr Medicine's faithful and highly regarded colleague is Doctor Gig, who we also have on speed dial.  Lyrically I suppose the sentiment is not too dissimilar to Sister Sledge ‘Lost In Music’, only galvanised by heavy, he...
