"Playin' Dumb" is an anthem about playing dumb so your boyfriend feels smart. It's filled with fantastic vocal harmonies from the three members of Tchotchke, and is filled with sunshiny melodies throughout. "Playin' Dumb" is a fun song, and if you also have an obsession with vintage girl groups, you'll also love this one. As 60's inspired as it is, the song isn't a complete throwback. It's heavily inspired by the 60's, but doesn't sound like Tchotchke are simply mimicking that style. Instead, they're updating the style to today while still keeping the vibes of the 60's intact. The just under two minute long "Now I Love You" focuses mostly on Anastasia Sanchez's vocals with a fairly barebones use of keyboards. There is some harmonizing with her bandmates, which is where the true magic of the song comes through. "Now I Love You" exists in this wonderful little space between being a throwback song and sounding modern. It's a cute, twee song that is gorgeous in its simplicity. These days we can use all the joy we can find, and Tchotchke have been fantastic in fulfilling that need. Personally, I've always been obsessed with the girl groups of the 1960's, and "Poor Girl" shows the trio channeling that sound into something new. The song also showcases vintage keys that are similar to those found in ? and the Mysterians songs, but without the garage rock insanity. "Poor Girl" is overflowing with some of my personal favorite styles, merging girl group vocals and harmonies with vintage garage rock in this fun and fairly chilled out sound, but Tchotchke never truly sound like a throwback act. They've taken classic styles and remade them into something fresh and modern with vintage vibes.
