Ghost Woman - "Clockwork"

Image
Ghost Woman (aka the musical project of Canadian artist Michael Rault) has another single out that continues what we've loved about his music so far. "Clockwork" is another laid back psychedelic garage rock song. This one is a little more straightforward roots music than "Do You" and "Behind Your Eyes" are. It definitely has less distortion than "Behind Your Eyes" and is a little less hypnotic than "Do You." This one could easily get the attention of the more open minded neo-folk crowd despite not being remotely folk. If anything, this might be the gateway song to get your more mainstream friends prepared for what Ghost Woman has to offer. You can watch the video for "Clockwork" below. Ghost Woman's self-titled debut is due out July 1 on Full Time Hobby. For more on Ghost Woman, check out the artist's Twitter and Instagram .

Ghost Woman - "Behind Your Eyes"

Photo by Lyle Bell Ghost Woman is the musical project of Evan Uschenko, who has played with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Mild High Club. Their latest single, "Behind Your Eyes," is similar to the last song we brought you of theirs ("Do You"). Both songs are fuzzed out psychedelic jams. It's a garage rocker just dripping with distortion on virtually every sound. It certainly doesn't sound like anything from 2022, but while it has a vintage vibe it's not exactly like psychedelic music from the 1960's or 1970's, either. "Behind Your Eyes" has an odd little feel of menace or danger to it which helps set Ghost Woman apart from other similar artists. You can watch the video for "Behind Your Eyes" below. Ghost Woman's self-titled debut is due out July 1 on Full Time Hobby. For more on Ghost Woman, check out the artist's Twitter and Instagram .

Ghost Woman - "Do You"

Canadian multi-instrumentalist Evan Uschenko has been a touring member of bands like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, but is now striking out on his own under the name Ghost Woman. When you hear that an artist recorded their music in an abandoned barn that has since burned down, Ghost Woman aren't going to sound like what you'd expect. Their new single, "Do You," is an odd little slinky garage rock jam. It's comprised of slightly off tuned fuzzy guitars that call out to you like a siren with some psychedelic jam band drumming. Uschenko's vocals have this droning and hypnotic feel. The whole thing reminds me a lot of The Dandy Warhol's heyday.  You can watch the video for "Do You" below. It is available now as a single via Full Time Hobby here . For more on Ghost Woman, check out the artist on Twitter and Bandcamp .

Silverbacks - "Archive Material"

Image
Photo by Roisin Murphy O'Sullivan Hailing from Dublin, Silverbacks have a unique take on the whole indie rock sound. "Archive Material" has kind of a post punk vibe, albeit an unusually sunny and groovy one. Plus, vocalist and guitarist Daniel O'Kelly has a very Stephen Malkmus sound to his delivery, giving this a Pavement goes post punk feel. And they even throw in some gang vocals, so it has a very cheery and friendly punk thing going on that mixes oddly with some 70's AM radio melodies. It's all an interesting and unique mix that is well worth your two and a half minute listen. Daniel O'Kelly says of the new song: “The initial demo version started from a drum sample taken from the opening of Jean-Pierre Massiera’s “Bonne Annee”. When we fleshed it out as a full band and Gary gave the track his usual kick up the arse, the song went full Les Baxter exotica mode. "When writing the lyrics, I imagined a bunch of government officials in the deep unde...
