"Rock N Roll Ruined My Life" is a pop leaning indie rock song that's going to mesmerize our readers. It's laid back and upbeat, with a chorus that's fully irresistible. It feels like it combines 90's dream pop with 90's post grunge power pop in the best possible way. The song is fresh, but if you're a fan of those genres, it's going to feel like home. Vocalist Leah Lavigne sounds transcendent throughout the song, and I don't know how anyone won't become enamored by her vocals. Photo by Miles Kalchik The latest single from Savanna Ruth is going to give you some serious 90's flashbacks, and not just because it was produced by Scott Lucas (Local H) and Blake Smith. "Bad Thoughts" has this perfect 90's alt-rock singer-songwriter thing. It's a mixture of melodic and noisy, with just the slightest hints of twang. To me, this feels and sounds like the mid-90's artists like Liz Phair and The Lemonheads. Plus, Ruth has the 90's slacker vocals down perfectly. The guitars have the perfect level of fuzz, and it's a level of poppy that we never would have admitted back in 1995. "Bad Thoughts" has the kind of catchy chorus that you'll be singing by the second time it comes around. And I get more obsessed with the song with every listen. Photo by Sydney Tate I wouldn't say that "Prepared to Lose," the latest single from Brooklyn's Ok Cowgirl, is a country track, but there are some country elements within the song. The song is more of a fuzzy, jangle pop track that reminds me of the bubblegrunge of the mid 90's, but even at its most indie rock, the guitars have an unmistakable twang. It's kind of like if Letters to Cleo decided to include a country song on Go!  It's so subtle that I would never have noticed (or admitted) that I liked a country-esque song in 1996, but 2026 me definitely notices. "Prepared to Lose" is a great song, and its' one of those styles we can't get enough of around here.
