Considering Golden Boots (who have somehow existed as a band for twenty years without me noticing them) feature an ex-member of Dr. Dog (Dmitri Manos), this is a cover of the Alan Parsons Project's iconic "Eye in the Sky," and the song features a pedal steel guitar, it would be a safe assumption that this would be a country or folkie cover. Well, it's not. At least... not really. Golden Boots' version of the soft rock classic keeps the soft part of "Eye in the Sky" intact, but it's a weirdo nearly electronic version of the song. If anything the pedal steel adds to the odd space age quality of the song. If anything, Golden Boots have made an organic electroclash soft work classic, if that could possibly be a thing.
