You're either going to love or hate the latest from Canyons and Locusts. The Boston/Phoenix band have released a noisy nugget of a song in "Love Goes Down the Drain." It's a fast song that borders on punk with its buzzsaw guitars and abrasive (at times) vocals. It's also the kind of song that may repel you at first, but by the time its less than two minute length is over, you'll be dying to hear more. It's certainly not for everyone despite how much catchiness is hidden inside. To me it sounds like a hybrid of Husker Du and The Minutemen. Those are also bands that aren't for everyone, but people that don't like them are wrong.
Vocalist/guitarist Justin Keane says of the new song:
“Honestly, it's pretty simple and the first two lines of the song say it all – ‘sometimes it's out of reach, that's why love goes down the drain’. Sometimes shit just falls apart and you can't find the center anymore and that's when things – relationships, friendships, fandoms, anything – get flushed down the toilet"
You can listen to "Love Goes Down the Drain" below. The Red Angel is due out on March 15. For more on Canyons and Locusts, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram.
