The latest single from The Problem With Kids Today comes so close to being a total and complete sonic trainwreck, but the near miss is what makes "All I Wanna Be" such a great song. The New Haven, CT trio have crafted a song that is as discordant as it is catchy. There's a strong undercurrent of garage rock and protopunk throughout the song, as well as a post punk beat. But The Problem With Kids Today have also thrown in such wonderfully jangly guitars that you're drawn in even though "All I Wanna Be" seems to want to push you away. It's a much more complicated song than you'd expect in a little over three minutes, and that's one of the reasons we're starting to love this band.
You can listen to "All I Wanna Be" below. Born to Rock is due out February 9, and is available to pre-order through Bandcamp. For more on The Problem With Kids Today, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram. Upcoming tour dates are below the song.
