While The Jesus and Mary Chain are one of the most beloved shoegaze bands of all time, sometimes they stray from that genre. Their latest single, "Girl 71," is one of those songs. This is just a groovy and bouncy alt-rock song. As much as I adore classic, brooding Jesus & Mary Chain, it's always nice to hear them cut loose with a fun, dance friendly track. "Girl 71" is still filled with the fuzzed out guitars required for any song from the Reid brothers, but this one is a straight up jam that's more along the lines of Johnny Marr's solo work or late 90's alt-rock.
You can watch the video for "Girl 71" below. Glasgow Eyes is due out March 22 on Fuzz Club, and is available for pre-order here. For more on The Jesus and Mary Chain, check out the band's website.
