Boston's Smitt E. Smitty & The Fezztones have released an unlikely song for Valentine's Day that's actually kinda perfect for the holiday. "#1 Most Likely" is a groovy disco-adjacent song that blends in some oddball garage rock into the mix. The song doesn't sound anything like music released in 2025, but it's nearly impossible to tie it down to any specific time period. It's filled with 70's glam and 80's garage rock, but that barely touches what the band is doing here. "#1 Most Likely" sounds kind of like what we thought future music would sound like in the 80's but without the overabundance of synths. What is possibly the most odd about this track is how normal it sounds by the time it's over. Smitt E. Smitty & The Fezztones sounded kind of bizarre at the beginning, but after three and a half minutes it becomes what music is supposed to sound like.
Smitt E. Smitty says of his latest single:
“This song is a ‘love song’ alternative – an alt-love song, perfect for Valentine’s Day. I’ve been in a loving long-term relationship for quite some time now. Having said that, as anyone in a long-term relationship can tell you, relationships are complicated – to say the least. Good days, bad days, and everything in between."
